Welcome to our first broadcast of 2012! Michael “that guy on tenther radio” Boldin is joined by Nick Hankoff as co-host. They kick off the show with a positive message about the young generation that is stepping up in support the Constitution and liberty. Highlighted are a number of people already in state office or running for Congress, plus a couple of very special activists – tireless working for liberty. More and more people are joining the movement every year…
Joining the show as a special guest, Professor Brion McClanahan, author of the Politically Incorrect Guide to the Founding Fathers. and The Founding Fathers Guide to the Constitution. He discussed how the founding generation intended for us to interpret the Constitution. “If we follow the Constitution as ratified, about 90-95% of what the Federal Government does would be considered unconstitutional.”
McClanahan also had some stern words for Newt Gingrich. Earlier today, Newt made this statement to people in New Hampshire – “I think Thomas Jefferson or George Washington would have rather strongly discouraged you from growing marijuana and their techniques with dealing with it would have been rather more violent than our current government…”
Brion’s response? “Is this the same George Washington that also grew hemp on his plantation?”
“Newt has no clue. That was considered purely a state issue, and there’s nowhere in the Constitution that says you can’t grow hemp or marijuana in your state.”
“For Newt Gingrich to say that is just ridiculous. I don’t know what founding documents he’s looking at, or what Jefferson or Washington he’s talking about, but that’s just silly”
Closing the show, Michael talks about Jim Babka’s featured article on the detention provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)
“Can the President have the military come and arrest you? Yes!
Can he (or she) send you to a military tribunal for trial or just hold you indefinitely in a military facility, without charges? Yes!
Wait a minute. Wasn’t there a provision in this bill that exempted Americans? Despite what your Congressional office may have told you (if you called during the debate over this bill) the answer to that question is an emphatic NO!”
MENTIONED IN THE SHOW
