Leslie, about the militia:
The Efficiency of Militia Bill H.R. 11654 (also known as the The Dick Act): This law breaks militia down tothree groups. The three classes H.R. 11654 provides for are the organized militia, also known as the National Guard of the State, Territory and District of Columbia; the unorganized militia, and the regular army.
It says: The militia encompasses every able-bodied male between the ages of 18 and 45. All members of the unorganized militia have the absolute personal right and 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms of any type, and as many as they can afford to buy.
Honorable William Gordon, speaking to the House, proved that the action of President Wilson in ordering the Organized Militia (the National Guard) to fight a war in Europe was so blatantly unconstitutional that he felt Wilson ought to have been impeached… wherein proves the rights of the people and the militia to buy, train with and bear arms is out of the reach of Congress or the President as well as drafting them into services they do not wish to take part in.
Thomas Jefferson said clearly to “… make the gun your companion on all your ventures in the world”
Everyone's right to buy arms of any kind and bear them stands on one reason alone. The right to wage war on all comers in the name of personal liberty plus the liberty of fellow US citizens; and to defend our legitimate government - the Constitution of the United States - from all enemies, Domestic and foreign. All who wants to must be armed, as their wallet allows, equal to all challengers to their freedom, and to defend the legitimate government of the United States of America.

You were close on that Hitler quote:
When an opponent declares, “I will not come over to your side,” I calmly say, “Your child belongs to us already.... What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.” Adolf Hitler (1889-1945), German dictator. speech, Nov. 6, 1933. Quoted in William L. Shirer, “Education in the Third Reich,” ch. 8, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (1959)

Very much like what we have now - many have known little else then what we are going through today.
