Many people have a general idea of how a bill becomes a law in DC, but very few people have been involved in working the process on a state level.Details
Which state has introduced the “strongest nullification bill in modern times”?
Michael Boldin and Nick Hankoff cover the latest and greatest of Tenther News! The nullification fire is spreading across many states as many issues are fanning the flames: guns, NDAA, and marijuana.
In this repeat of Tenther Radio Episode 50, Robert Baker joins Michael and Nick to discuss his book The Rescue of Joshua Glover: A Fugitive Slave, the Constitution, and the Coming of the Civil War. Baker is an Associate Professor at Georgia State University. In the preface of his book he explains that, “Deeply embedded in the American Revolution was the concept that the people, properly organized, might act on their own.”Details
The big issue of the week? The standoff on the right to keep and bear arms is moving to the states. While federal politicians have been tossing around ideas about banning or restricting firearm ownership, people in their states and local communities are working on methods to stop unconstitutional federal gun laws already on the books – and anything else that may be coming too.
Drones. The federal government wants to see some 30,000 drones over the skies of America. Spying…and keeping a watchful eye. But a number of states – already Missouri, Florida and Indiana, and more soon – are considering versions of the Tenth Amendment Center’s Privacy Protection Act – to nullify the drones. We cover this, plus loads of news from states around the country as legislative sessions for 2013 are getting underway.
Years ago, the Tenth Amendment Center was a lone voice talking about how specific state laws were acts of nullification. 25 states were standing against George Bush’s Real ID act. And now 18 states are nullifying federal laws on weed. Today, we’re not alone. Even the Department of justice acknowledges that voter initiatives to legalize marijuana in Washington and Colorado are acts of nullification. So either these guys are reading our work, or the message is really getting out there. Either way, we’re winning.
In this post-Christmas show Chief Tenther Elf Michael Boldin and “Saint” Nick Hankoff join forces to review the nullification goodies that have been dropped down the chimneys of the various states in the union, as well as the top ten Tenther articles of 2012.
Tenther Radio Episode #78: Nullifying Federal Gun Laws, and the Constitution Solution for the CT Massacre
Boldin and Hankoff discuss a suggestion that TAC create model legislation to nullify federal gun laws. During this segment, they reviewed various federal gun laws from over the years and some ideas for how TAC would approach nullification – and future proof the legislation against potential new laws, regulations, and even executive orders.
Michael Boldin and Lesley Swann take on some big news across the several states. NDAA and Obamacare – will they be enforceable if the states keep this up?Details
